CFDesign is another tool being used in the Structural and Thermal Systems Branch. As its name suggests, it is a computational fluid dynamics code. CFDesign is a finite element fluid flow and heat transfer solver. It is capable of solving internal and external flows for both the laminar and turbulent flow regime. CFDesign can handle conduction, convection, radiation, as well as any combination of the three. The software also supports both incompressible and compressible flows as well as steady state and transient analyses. As the code is tightly integrated with Pro/Engineer, it makes it quite easy to perform an analysis using the same geometry created by a designer.
